Inheritance

Inheritance by Nora Roberts is the first novel in “The Last Bride Trilogy” and the audio book is an excellent listen. Set in a Victorian house on the Maine coast, the story features ghosts, a haunted house and a centuries-old curse.
Sonya MacTavish has just inherited the house from her late uncle, Collin Poole, provided that she lives in the house for at least three years. These arrangements suit Sonya just fine as she has recently dumped her cheating fiancé and started her own graphic design firm. Sonya is surprised to learn that her late father had a twin who he wasn’t aware of. Another mystery is why one of her father’s paintings is in the house that Sonya just inherited.
Over the years, beginning in the early 1800s, brides – including the bride of Sonya’s uncle – have died or been murdered here on their wedding day. It appears that Sonya is going to have to solve the curse. Fortunately, she has found friends in her new community and has been joined by her best friend. And they are prepared to help her.
Inheritance is a fun story that is well read by Brittany Pressley. I’m looking forward to listening to book two in this trilogy.

Being Henry: The Fonz…and Beyond
By Henry Winkler, read by the author

Looking for a good autobiography to listen to? Henry Winkler’s Being Henry: The Fonz…and Beyond is an entertaining listen. Read by the author, the book covers Winkler’s difficult childhood, his difficulties with dyslexia and with his success as an actor, including his iconic role as Fonzie on Happy Days.
A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, the modest and kind actor shares his family life in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife Stacey and has three children, six grandchildren and two dogs. As you would expect, a significant part of the book involves his work on various movies and TV shows such as Happy Days, Arrested Development, Children's Hospital and Parks and Recreation. Winkler also discusses his role as Gene Cousineau on the series Barry for which he won his first Primetime Emmy Award. And Winkler’s career achievements weren’t limited to his work as an actor, producer and director. He was also a successful children’s author whose work included the 28-book series Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever, which was “inspired by Winkler’s own struggle with learning challenges.”
Not only is Being Henry an interesting autobiography, but Winkler does an exceptional job reading his book.

Read by Kate Mara, Gone Tonight is a very good thriller by Sarah Pekkanen that will keep you entertained – and on the edge of your seat.
